The Enchanted Book Club becomes Her Literary Society

Dear Friends,

Five years ago, I had the idea to create a book club that would connect readers through the stories we’ve loved since girlhood—Anne of Green GablesThe Secret GardenPride and Prejudice, and so many more. In my wildest dreams would our community become what it is today.

Over the years, I’ve watched women in our community reconnect with the parts of themselves they thought they might never meet again. I’ve seen women feel empowered to say “yes!” to the literary trips they’ve always dreamed of, step into the homes of beloved authors, and form lifelong friendships in places like Prince Edward Island and the English countryside. I’ve watched women with chronic illnesses find comfort and hope, and seen readers of all ages exclaim “me too!” as we connect over our common interests—parts of us that have so often made us feel different. I’ve realized that women join and participate in our community as an act of self-care.

As our community grew, so did what we offer. We started hosting literary tours around the world, launched a pen pal program, hosted afternoon teas, and introduced author meet & greets. And because of your membership, we’ve been able to give back—supporting the literary landmarks and institutions that preserve the legacies of the women whose books make us feel most ourselves. We planted 10 trees creating Anne of Green Gables’ White Way of Delight at the site of L.M. Montgomery’s home, contributed to a new, permanent exhibit at Jane Austen’s house detailing her writing journey, and more.

Somewhere along the way, we became more than a book club. We became a community with a mission.

A mission rooted in empowering women to be the heroines of their own stories—through joy, inspiration, friendship, and a shared love of literature. A mission to celebrate today’s storytellers and honor the trailblazing women who wrote our favorite novels at a time when they were expected to stay silent. A mission to ensure the places connected to their lives and works continue to thrive.

And now, it’s time for our name to reflect who we’ve become. I’m delighted to announce that The Enchanted Book Club is now Her Literary Society. If you’re already a part of our community, your membership experience will only become more enchanting. In 2026, you can expect bigger guests, more membership perks, the opportunity to vote on which literary landmarks and causes we make donations to, and more. If you haven’t joined our community yet, I would love nothing more than to be a part of your journey to becoming the heroine you were always destined to be.

In the coming weeks you will notice our new name displayed here on the website and in our newsletter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating literary magic with me. It may be our 5th birthday, but I promise this is only our first chapter!

With love and gratitude,
Hayley
